OMS Summer Camp Programs

Outstanding Insects – July 4 to 7 (4-day week due to Canada Day)

Explore the world of insects and other arthropods during this exciting first week of Summer Camp! We’ll track praying mantises, learn about pollinators and search for bug activity at OMS. Create bug houses to take home at the end of the week! Fees are discounted at $280 for Full Day and $200 for Half Day as this is a 4 day week.

Educational focus and highlights: characteristics and habitats of insects and a field trip to the Canadian Museum of Nature

Lost in Space – July 10 to 14

Propel yourself through space this summer! Learn about man’s first attempts to join the birds in flight. Campers will defy gravity as they create, build paper airplanes and experiment with devices that propel, lift, toss and move items through the air!

Educational focus and highlights: air travel, science, a field trip to the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum

Wonders of Nature – July 17 to 21

Children are fascinated with the world of nature. Campers will develop observation skills as they bird watch and make rainbows, experimentation skills as they explore seeds and carrots, prediction skills as they wonder what ants will eat, and measurement and recording skills as they watch weeds grow!

Educational focus and highlights: nature, eco-systems, a field trip to Gatineau Park

Art Camp – July 24 to 28

Explore the joys of creative expression through art. Our practicing artists will introduce you to fun techniques with different media through a series of workshops designed to bring out the artist in each child! In the process oriented experience, campers will create several works to take home and proudly display.

Under the Sea – July 31 to August 4

Journey beneath the waves to an incredible undersea world. Learn about creatures of the ocean, including those who live on the sea floor and those who spend part of their lives on land. We will learn to identify shells and create shell critters.

Educational focus and highlights: marine biology, water games, a field trip to Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo

Cooking in French – August 7 to 11

This program will introduce or help enhance your French vocabulary skills while you create culinary masterpieces. Campers learn through engagement in conversation and enjoyment, while creating delicious cuisine. Various levels of spoken French will be accommodated. Additional funds to purchase lunch at a French restaurant are required.

Frontiers of Construction – August 14 to 18

Children will have the opportunity to explore principles of construction with a variety of building materials. Using unique crafting materials, children will create through the use of their imagination and their hands. Campers will produce works of art using clay.

Sizzling Science – August 21 to 25

Investigate the electrifying world of science! Children will discover “how” and “why” as they conduct a variety of experiments. Perfect for the mad scientist in all!

Robotics Camp for Elementary – July 10 to 14 and July 31 to August 4

A Robotics Camp for Elementary students, focused upon the use of the VEX Robotics system. Open to students in Grades 2 to 6
